Status: Temporary Full-time – approx 12-18 months, maternity leave position

We are seeking an engaging Business & Commerce teacher to lead our senior commerce program on an approximately 18-month temporary contract, covering a maternity leave. This is a substantial, self-contained assignment — long enough to build real relationships with students, own a full program, and see a senior cohort through — making it an ideal fit for a business educator looking for a meaningful role with a defined horizon, or an experienced professional moving into the classroom.

Commerce sits within Applied Design, Skills & Technologies (ADST) in the BC curriculum, and you will bring the world of business to life for students preparing for post-secondary study and careers in commerce, finance, and enterprise.

• Teach senior business courses aligned to the BC curriculum, including Accounting 11, Marketing and Promotion 11, Accounting 12, Economics 12, and related assignments as needed to complete the timetable.
• Make business concepts concrete and relevant through real-world examples, case studies, and applied projects.
• Use competency-based, proficiency-focused assessment aligned to BC standards, and communicate student progress clearly to students and families.
• Support students in developing financial literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and the practical skills that carry into post-secondary study and the workplace.
• Contribute to the wider life and values of the school community.

Required

• BC Teacher Regulation Branch certification, or eligibility to obtain it.
• A strong background in business, commerce, economics, or accounting — through teaching experience, professional experience, or relevant post-secondary study.
• The ability to make senior business content engaging, rigorous, and relevant.
• Commitment to the mission, values, and community of Dasmesh Punjabi School.

Strong assets

• Experience teaching senior business or commerce courses within the BC curriculum.
• A professional background in finance, accounting, marketing, or business.
• Familiarity with the BC ADST curriculum and competency-based assessment.
• Skill in supporting a diverse learner population, including English language learners.
• Cultural connection to, or genuine appreciation for, the Punjabi-Sikh community we serve.
