At Dasmesh Punjabi School, Punjabi is one of our language subjects. We follow the Ministry-mandated curriculum for Grades 5 to 12 and the department-developed one for Kindergarten to Grade 4. Our students are able, by the end of Grade 10, to write the Grade 12 Punjabi Exam. This satisfies the graduation requirement for a second language.
In keeping with the new BC Curriculum, our Punjabi Department has taken a keen interest in Project Based Learning. This project was initiated by our Intermediate Punjabi teacher Mrs. Sidhu with our grade 5’s. Great work in helping our students create these beautiful works of art and learning about the Punjabi language in creative ways.
Mrs. Sidhu, Grades 4 to 6 Punjabi teacher, engaged her grade 5 students to learn about different lentil’s names in Punjabi. She motivated her students to present the information as creatively as they can. Students used their critical thinking skills and came with these creative models of different themes like flowers, shapes and maps of India etc. to share their learning. Students printed each of the pasted lentil names in Punjabi. Thank you to the students and to their Punjabi teacher Mrs. Jaswinder K. Sidhu.
